Chick-Shaped Lemon Cookies

Soft lemon-flavored sugar cookies shaped and decorated to look like baby chicks.

prepPreheat oven to 350°F / 177°C
prepLine baking tray with parchment paper or silicone mat
1 ¾ cups / 210 g all-purpose flour	Whisk dry ingredients		Fold in dry ingredients until no flour remains	Shape into balls with hair tufts, space 3–4 in apart	Bake 350°F / 177°C, 10–12 min	Cool on pan 5 min, transfer to rack, cool completely	Pipe chocolate faces onto cooled cookies

1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp salt
½ cup / 115 g unsalted butter, melted and cooled	Cream butter, sugar, zest & juice, 1–2 min	Beat in egg, lemon extract & food coloring
1 ½ cups / 300 g granulated sugar
1 egg
½ tbsp lemon zest
3 tbsp / 45 ml lemon juice
1 tsp lemon extract
yellow food coloring (liquid, gel, or powder)
melted white chocolate dyed with oil-based food coloring (black, white, orange, pink)
