Rough, craggy buns studded with dried fruit, made by rubbing cold butter into flour and baking until golden.
| prepPreheat oven to 190°C / 375°F (170°C / 340°F fan), Gas Mark 5 | |||||||
| prepGrease 2 baking sheets with butter or margarine | |||||||
| 250 g / 250 g self-raising flour | Sift flour | Rub in butter until breadcrumbs | Add sugar, egg, milk & extract; mix to thick dough | Fold in dried fruit | Portion onto sheets, rough balls | Bake 190°C / 375°F, 10–15 min until golden | Cool on sheet, then transfer to wire rack |
