| prepHeat cast-iron skillet over medium heat, or preheat outdoor grill to 400°F / 200°C | ||||||
| 3 cups / 710 ml cooked black beans, drained and rinsed | Combine beans, onion, garlic, chipotles, adobo, tamari, balsamic, cumin, salt & pepper | Mash until mixture holds together with visible bean chunks | Fold in egg | Fold in panko | Form into 6 patties (about ⅓ cup each); chill 20 min if too wet | Cook in skillet 5 min per side until charred, or grill 8 min + 4 min |
